Demon Slayer Blue Tanjiro/Kanroji Deck List and Guide – UNION ARENA
Tanjiro/Nezuko/Kanroji is arguably the strongest Blue deck coming out in Demon Slayer Vol. 2. In this deck list and guide, we’ll be going over how to play the strongest Blue Demon Slayer deck.
Demon Slayer Blue Tanjiro/Kanroji key combos
As a net new deck in Demon Slayer, the Blue Tanjiro/Kanroji/Nezuko build is an exciting one to test and work around. And while different builds will vary, they should all look something like the above list. Try it out and tweak it to your liking, but however you play it it will have these key combos.
Tanjiro is your four-cost removal character.
Tanjiro is one of the strongest characters added in Blue Demon Slayer. With an easy to use remove 4000 BP character “When Played” effect, he’d pretty easily find a home in just about any deck. While there are some interesting combos you can use with him via your Nichirin Sword and also when paired into Nezuko, Tanjiro is primarily here for his removal and Impact keyword. Speaking of Nezuko…
The Nezuko Raid package
Nezuko’s Raid package adds a ton of consistency and draw power to this deck. Her zero cost character is going to let you filter through the top card of your deck, while her one-cost is going to let you draw one then place one on top of your deck or on bottom. That’s actually a really solid effect as you can avoid having to discard if your hand is full of otherwise good cards.
Meanwhile, the three-cost Nezuko is a very unique card. Let’s look at her a little more closely.
First of all, we should talk about the “always on” ability that Nezuko has. This one is actually very handy in Blue Demon Slayer as it lets you use Tanjiro’s removal effect by bouncing Nezuko to the hand. Of course, you get added value out of bouncing the Raid Nezuko to the hand as you’ll be getting both her and her Raid target. But really any of your Nezuko characters make for an excellent target with this effect as they have strong “When Played” effects.
The Kanroji Raid Package
The other Raid package included in Demon Slayer Blue that really should be a must-have in any Blue Demon Slayer deck is Kanroji. She has several very strong characters in this set, including her four-cost Damage 2 character and the Raid.
Raid Kanroji
Raid Kanroji is truly a strong character, and she should get a ton of notice in Blue Demon Slayer decks. her strongest selling point is that she has Nullify Impact when raided, bounces an opposing character to your opponent’s hand (their choice), and can also boost to 5000 BP until your next turn when targeted by her Nichirin Sword.
Those are all very powerful effects, making her an excellent pairing for Tanjrio. Use Tanjiro to remove the 4000 BP character you don’t like, then force your opponent to send yet another card back to the hand with Kanrjoi – all in the same turn.
Damage 2 Kanroji
As solid as five-cost Kanroji is, four-cost Kanroji is just as solid, easily boosting to a Damage 2 character as long as you just target her with her Nichirin Sword. Simply targeting Kanroji with Nichirin Sword to grant her Damage 2 is a markedly easy prerequisite. And as we know from the UNION ARENA metagame, 4000 BP (or more) characters that become Damage 2 with relative ease are worth their weight in gold – adding pressure to attacks that often force your opponent to remove their own characters in response.
Kanroji Raid targets
While you won’t want to Raid over the four-cost Kanroji if you can help it – you’ll want access to her Damage 2 attack – she still can double as a Raid target in a pinch. The more ideal Raid targets for this character are her zero-cost and one-cost.
The Nichirin Swords are key to Demon Slayer Blue’s strategy
No matter what Blue Demon Slayer deck you end up piloting, there will be one thing they have in common: they’re all about the Nichirin Sword site cards. This deck focuses on two in particular: the one belonging to Tanjiro and the one belonging to Kanroji. Use these sites to unlock additional effects for both of your characters.
Both Nichirin Sword affinity cards have their own strengths. At face value, Tanjiro’s Nichirin Sword is stronger. It grants 1000 BP to you Tanjiro character but also lets you filter through the top card of your deck. While Kanroji’s Sword can be used to add an impressive amount of BP (excellent for boosting your lower-cost Kanroji to potentially 4000 BP characters), its real strength is in granting powerful effects to your four-cost and five-cost Kanroji. Again, four-cost Kanroji gains Damage 2 when targeted while Raid Kanroji will gain a defensive layer, boosting to 5000 BP until the start of your next turn. This is an excellent way to enable positive trades with your opponent.
Hotaru is a powerful consistency card
Last but not least is Hotaru. This character brings an incredible search mechanic into Demon Slayer Blue – a fact which is made all-the-more handy by the fact he generates two-energy, making him an easy fit into your deck. When you play him, you have two options – search the top seven for a Nichirin Sword card and add it to your hand without needing to discard. or simply draw a card if you already have a Nichirin Sword on the field.
This kind of card search and draw is a huge boon to Demon Slayer Blue decks and he should be a four-of in any Blue deck.
With powerful removal, solid consistency cards, and strong defensive plays, I could see the Blue Tanjiro/Nezuko/Kanroji deck build being quite popular in competitive play. While it may not make it into the highest UNION ARENA tiers, it’s still a strong contender fro anyone wishing to give this deck a try.
