UNION ARENA: Sword Art Online English Version Spoilers

UNION ARENA’s seventh in the English version of the game is going to be none other than Sword Art Online! With the starter deck releasing on April 25th and the booster pack releasing on May 2, 2025, players should have plenty of time to test out these new strategies before even more decks enter the arena end of May. Below, we’ll be looking at each and every spoiler revealed in English from the upcoming set so far! But first, the products.

In order to get the majority of these SAO cards, you’ll have to pick up a starter deck and/or a booster box. You can preorder these from my friends at TCGPlayer (and what you buy supports the website!)

The top chase cards from UNION ARENA: Sword Art Online

As typically tends to be the case, Bandai has released the images for the top chase cards first from the set – in this case the signature rare cards.

As was the case with One Punch Man, all two star rarity cards and above will include signatures from the original voice actors of the characters.

Perhaps most noticeably (and also somehow very fitting for the show), this set contains two triple star rare cards: Kurito and Asuna.

SR*** Asuna & Kurito

SR** cards have signatures as well

SR*** may be the big chase from this set, but the SR*** look insanely good, as well.

Sword Art Online Starter Deck spoilers

UNION ARENA starter decks tend to be really solid ways to build your decks on the cheap. This particular starter deck looks particularly solid just based on these two characters, however. You could easily build a Blue SAO deck using thees pieces from buying two starter decks. While you’ll need the Raid versions of these cards from the booster pack to really unlock the full strategy, right here is a solid start.

You can also pair these two cards with the “Switch” event coming out in this starter deck to unlock added combos and benefits.

Additional English spoilers from Sword Art Online

So far, I’m most excited about the Blue Sword Art Online deck, as it draws from my favorite season of the show and also has some very interesting switching mechanics that could be very fun to play around with in the UNION ARENA meta.

Below, let’s look at more cards spoiled from the English version of the game for this set outside of just the maximum rarity cards.

Asuna (Stacia, the Goddess of Creation) SR

Just in case you thought Asuna was only showing up in the Blue energy color for this set, be not afraid – she’s showing up in goddess form in the yellow deck, as well. From what we’e seen of the yellow cards so far, this deck looks solid.

Goddess Asuna has a pretty complicated when played effect that is also a little tricky to comprehend. However, I really like what I’m seeing here. This effect reminds me a lot of Toshiro from the original BLEACH set. However, there’s an added element of switching characters up and the forcing them not to move. This could be a really good way to keep your opponent at bay, and works especially well against Saitama decks from One Punch Man that can’t be removed otherwise.

To take full advantage of this effect, you’ll need to be relatively low on life. But that shouldn’t be a huge issue given how strong some of these effects are.

Sinon (Sun Goddess, Solus)

Speaking of characters that gain advantage from lower life, Sinon also works really well once you’re running out life, further playing into that mechanic. Although in some wys Sinon sounds a bit more deadly – gaining both Snipe and Impact depending on how little life you have left.

Alice Synthesis Thirty

Usually there are about two different decks you can build from each energy color. My feeling from looking at this Alice card is that she’s going to be a separate deck from the Asuna Goddess character as she doesn’t have any effects or abilities that boost from having less life. Here she seems to be more of an affinity focused removal character, very similar to the Hashira or Thirteen Court Guard squad decks we’ve had in the past.

Get the Asuna Winner card at UNION ARENA April Store Tournaments

Starter decks and booster packs aren’t the only way to get SAO cards. Actually, you can go and get one SAO card early if you happen to place highly at a UA store tournament. The Asuna Winner card is a gorgeous card – I’ve picked one of these up myself. Asuna looks strong and would likely fit well into the Asuna/Kurito Blue deck.

Sword Art Online Release event promo

If you’re feeling particularly daring, you might want to shoot for the stars and try to bag yourself a Leafa winner card. These can be obtained at Sword Art Online Release Events, running from April 25th to May 2nd, 2025. The Leafa with the Winner stamp on it will only be available to those who actually win their event.

Leafa is a basic, zero-cost Nulify Impact character, meaning her usefulness is going to depend on how she fits into the yellow SAO deck. Either way, the card looks great and would be a solid addition to your collection.

Sword Art Online looks like a killer UNION ARENA set with plenty of gorgeous cards to chase as well as exciting strategies to try out. Look for it starting April 25, 2025 and everywhere on May 2, 2025 and don’t forget to check out TCGPlayer for the latest market prices for your SAO products.
