Demon Slayer Red Zenitsu and Friends Deck
Demon Slayer has many interesting decks to choose from, and undeniably one of the most fun is the Demon Slayer Red Zenitsu and friends deck. Highly aggressive, this deck boasts a pretty insane range of strong characters who you can use to overwhelm your opponent’s board. The only short coming here is the lack of removal. Although you do have access to Rengoku, he’s only removing 3000 BP characters and there’s no solid way to reduce BP in this deck to stretch that a bit further the way there is in Yellow Demon Slayer Tanjiro.
That being said, there are some absolutely broken cards in this deck which we will be talking about in more detail below.
This deck’s most broken combo is with two-cost Tanjiro
It didn’t take long playing this deck to realize how strong two-cost Tanjiro is. He’s arguably this deck’s strongest early game character, capable of easily boosting to 3500 BP. That’s some insane BP for only a two-cost character. Not to mention he’s got the powerful Active trigger and can be paired with Raid Inosuke to readily stand the turn he is played.
This combo is one of your strongest in the deck at any time during the battle.
Speaking of Inosuke…
Inosuke acts as a solid backbone to your deck. Weather you’re playing him turn one to set up a raid later on, using his three-cost disguised version to prep your energy line for bigger cost characters, or swinging him into battle to take out characters and ready your field, Inosuke is a powerhouse of a card that really makes this deck function as a whole.
Zenitsu is necessary if less effective
Of all of your characters, Zenitsu is actually probably the least effective. And that’s pretty interesting given this deck’s special is based on having Zenitsu in play. Zenitsu should play more of a supporting role in this deck, however, as you’ll need him in play to access various effects (such as Raid Inosuke’s When Played). You can raid him into the five-cost Zenitsu who has Damage 2 and lets you draw extra cards. But that’s not nearly your strongest attacker given the likes of Tenzen and Inosuke being in this deck. Keep him on your energy line whenever possible.
Of all the Zenitsu in this deck, I actually feel the one-cost disguised Zenko is the strongest. He lets you look at the top card of your deck and put it at the bottom if it’s one you don’t like. While that might not sound like a lot, this helps cycle through the cards you don’t want faster so you can get to the ones you do want with more ease.
Tengen and the Color Trigger
Although Red does have access to the two action Zenitsu with Step, I actually think three-cost Tengen is the stronger option here. You can use him as a raid target for your four-cost Tengen and take advantage of his double attack keyword. Meanwhile, he let’s you search out one of your disguised cards but more importantly has the Color trigger which can be pretty handy in fending off low-effort blows from your opponent’s weaker characters.
While Zenitsu is a strong character too, running four copies of him and four copies of Rengoku in this deck feels too two-AP character heavy for me so I prefer this build that utilizes the Tenzen with Color trigger instead.
Rengoku is your removal
Last but not least is the powerful Rengoku. While his five energy cost is going to be a little challenging to pull off in a deck that likes to move fast with relatively low energy, in the right circumstances he can be highly effective. Use him to loosen up your opponent’s front line and take a fell blow with Impact – Rengoku is a multifaced character that comes in active letting you make the most out of him the turn he’s played.
I really enjoy the aggressive playstyle and overwhelming combative force of this deck, and it certainly has the tools to be highly effective in the Demon Slayer Rare Battle format. While it may lack the removal necessary to constitute being a top tier deck, many fans will enjoy piloting a deck filled to the brim with their favorite characters and some seriously powerful combos.
